Your waxing appointment doesn't end when you leave the studio. What you do in the 24–48 hours after your wax has a significant impact on your results, your skin's health, and your comfort. Here's Wax Me Too's complete aftercare guide.
The First 24 Hours: What to Avoid
Freshly waxed skin is temporarily more sensitive and vulnerable. In the first 24 hours after your appointment, avoid: Hot showers or baths. Stick to lukewarm water — heat can cause inflammation and irritation on freshly waxed skin. Sun exposure. Waxed skin is more susceptible to UV damage. If you must be in the sun, apply SPF 30 or higher to waxed areas. Swimming pools or hot tubs. Chlorine and bacteria in pools can irritate open follicles. Intense exercise. Sweat and friction can cause irritation and increase the risk of ingrown hairs. Fragranced products. Avoid perfumes, scented lotions, and deodorants on waxed areas for 24 hours.
Days 2–7: Building Your Aftercare Routine
Moisturize daily. Apply a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic lotion to waxed areas every day to keep skin hydrated and supple. Begin gentle exfoliation at 48 hours. Use a soft washcloth or gentle exfoliating scrub 2–3 times per week to prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid shaving. Shaving between waxing appointments disrupts the hair growth cycle and can lead to coarser regrowth and more ingrown hairs.
When to Call Us
Mild redness and sensitivity are completely normal after waxing and typically resolve within a few hours. If you experience persistent redness, bumps, or irritation lasting more than 48 hours, contact your esthetician. We're always here to help. Book your next appointment at waxmetoo.com before your current results fade. We recommend scheduling 4–6 weeks out. Not sure what to expect before your visit?
