Before your
appointment

A little preparation goes a long way. Follow these guidelines to ensure the best possible results from your waxing service.

Important: Accutane, AHA & Retinol Users β€” Please Read

If you are currently taking Accutane (isotretinoin), you cannot receive waxing services. Accutane thins the skin and waxing can cause serious skin lifting and damage. You must be off Accutane for at least 6 months before waxing.

If you use AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) or retinol products β€” including prescription tretinoin, Retin-A, or over-the-counter retinol serums β€” you cannot be waxed on areas where those products are applied. Please discontinue use on the area for at least 5–7 days before your appointment and let your esthetician know.

Let hair grow to ΒΌ inch

This is approximately 10 days of growth after shaving. Hair that is too short won't grip properly. When in doubt, let it grow a bit more than you think you need.

Avoid sun exposure, spray tans, and tanning beds

Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, spray tans, or sunburns on the areas to be waxed for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Freshly tanned or sunburned skin is too sensitive for waxing.

Exfoliate 24–48 hours before

Gentle exfoliation removes dead skin cells and helps the wax grip hair more effectively. Use a soft scrub or exfoliating mitt β€” nothing too abrasive.

Skip lotion on appointment day

Avoid applying lotion, oils, or body butter to the area on the day of your appointment. These create a barrier that can interfere with wax adhesion.

Consider ibuprofen beforehand

If you're concerned about discomfort, take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen 30–45 minutes before your appointment.

Stay hydrated

Well-hydrated skin waxes more cleanly. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.

Skip retinol and AHAs on the area

If you use retinol, AHAs, or other exfoliating skincare products, avoid applying them to the wax area for at least 5–7 days before your appointment and let your esthetician know.
