Why You Should Wax Twice Before a Wedding, Big Event, or Trip
One pre-event wax isn't enough for truly photo-ready skin. Here's the biology behind booking two — a reset a few weeks out and a finisher a few days before.
The one-wax mistake
The problem is that a first wax — especially your first after a stretch of shaving — is rarely your best wax. Freshly waxed skin needs a little time to settle, and your hair simply isn't ready to give you a clean result the first time.
The real reason: your hair isn't on one schedule
Your body hair doesn't grow all at once. Each follicle runs on its own independent clock through three stages: anagen (active growing), catagen (short transition), and telogen (resting). A single wax can only remove the hair that has actually grown out. The hairs hiding just beneath the skin push through days later — that's the stubble that shows up a few days after a wax.
Why two waxes beat one
It evens out your regrowth: the first wax clears out everything and resets the area. The second wax removes that fresh, uniform regrowth for a genuinely smooth result. It gets the redness out of the way early: your second wax, timed a few days before the event, removes only even regrowth with less irritation.
The timeline we recommend
4 to 6 weeks before — Wax #1 (the reset): clears the field and lets regrowth come in evenly. 3 to 5 days before — Wax #2 (the finisher): regrowth is now even, result is cleaner and lasts longer.
Traveling? The same logic applies
Vacation waxing follows the same two-appointment rhythm. Results can last up to about six weeks — no packing razors, no mid-trip stubble, no razor burn from a hotel bathroom.
