Your First Brazilian Wax: What to Expect, Step by Step
Booking your first Brazilian wax? Here's exactly what to expect — how to prep, what happens in the room, how long it takes, and how to feel comfortable from start to finish.
Before your appointment
Hair needs to be at least a quarter inch long — about 10 days of growth after shaving. Stop shaving at least 10 days before. Gently exfoliate the area 24–48 hours before. Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds for 24 hours prior. Consider an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory 30–45 minutes before if you're nervous about discomfort. Skip caffeine and alcohol the day of. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
When you arrive
You'll check in, meet your esthetician, and be shown to a private treatment room. Your esthetician will step out while you undress from the waist down and lie on the table. There's a drape or towel provided. You are never exposed more than necessary.
During the wax
Your esthetician applies warm wax in small sections and removes it quickly. Each strip takes a second or two. The bikini area is sensitive, but most clients describe it as a sharp, brief sting — not sustained pain. A full Brazilian at Wax Me Too takes about 15 minutes. Your esthetician will talk you through each step.
After your appointment
Expect mild redness for a few hours — completely normal. Avoid heat (hot tubs, saunas, intense sun) for 24 hours. Skip tight clothing for the rest of the day. Begin gentle exfoliation 48 hours after to prevent ingrown hairs. Moisturize daily with a fragrance-free lotion.
