Below is a list of our most asked questions. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions about waxing.
Q - Sex after waxing?
A - Why not? We won't say no. Just clean the open follicles along the pubic bone area afterwards as to avoid irritation.
Q - What should I know about the Brazilian Waxing Service?
A - Here's what you should know:
Q - Who should wax?
A - Well, we hope everyone, of course. Most folks are good candidates for waxing and experience all the benefits of hair removal through waxing.
But, because all skin and hair types are different ( your own personal DNA) not everyone is a perfect wax candidate. A small percentage of people will experience periodic ingrown hairs or hives from waxing.
Q - How do we know if you are a good candidate for waxing?
A - Well, we don't and neither will you until you try it!
Q - What should I know before I wax?
A - Here's some general waxing information:
Q - Waxing while pregnant?
A - Of course! We wax many pregnant women ( but do ask that they check with their doctor first).
Q - Exercise after waxing?
A - Sure. And, may I just say, we admire you for it ( the exercise that is) 20 mile bike ride after your first waxing appointment....well, we won't say no, but its entirely up to you!
Q - Does waxing hurt?
A - Any waxing salon that claims that hair removal is pain-free is a) lying to you or b) using a wax (hard wax) that breaks hair at the follicle and may make you think-- for a few days-- that you got a complete wax UNTIL you feel stubble and realize you got the equivalence to a shave. Now, that being said, at Wax Me Too, we use techniques to minimize your discomfort while at the same time promise you a great waxing service ( yes, hair is pulled from the root)
Q - I'm taking Retinol, can I wax?
A - You can not be waxed if you are using Retinol products such as Renova or Retin A You can not be waxed if you have used Accutane in the last 6 months
Q - What is Foliculitis?
A - A small percentage of women who brazilian wax for the first time may break out with tiny whitehead bumps along the bikini area. This is known as folliculitis and can be a source of irritation and aaggravation Folliculitis occurs in about 1% of first time brazilian/bikini waxers and is easily treated.
After waxing, the hair follicle is open for about 24-48 hours and is susceptible to anything that may cause infection, even your own skins bacteria.
Folliculitis lasts 1 to 2 days if using PFB (a product that helps prevent rash/waxing bumps & ingrown hairs). On its own, folliculitis clears up in 5 to 6 days.
Some clients may have an allergic reaction to the wax which can cause red bumps, hives, serve irritation and even scabbing although this is rare and if occurs is usually mild. Are you one of those folks? Well, we won't know until you wax.
We are committed to using the best wax for all skin types, therefore we use a gentle honey wax that is fragrance free.
Q - What should I avoid after waxing?
A - At Wax Me Too we educate you on how to take care of your skin after waxing! Stay out of hot tubs and swimming pools and lakes...anything that can cause bacteria to get into the open hair follicle right after waxing for 24 hours!
Q - How does Wax Me Too keep their locations clean?
A - At Wax Me Too we are committed to making your waxing service clean and hygienic. We promise:
Q - How short is too short for hair removal?
A - Wax can only catch on and attach to hair that is about 1/4 inch in length when it comes to waxing every area of the body.... but the face. Therefore, our commitment to you is to get every hair possible that is long enough. We will tweeze those stubborn hairs resistant to the wax but we can not tweeze all hairs that are too short.
To get the best wax possible please allow a minimum of 10 days of hair growth from the last time you shaved. Please know that hair grows in cycles and it can take several months of waxing to get that silky soft smoothness that we all strive for. LEGS! Leg waxing is almost as popular as the bikini and brazilian.
Here are a few things to consider when waxing your legs.
Wax will remove hair that is 1/4 inch long or longer. Hair that is shorter and just on the surface or just below the surface of the skin can not be removed or tweezed. Short hairs have a different "age" than the hair that is 1/4 inch or longer. Therefore, after a leg wax it is typical (depending on your hair type and how long since you shaved) to feel prickly underneath. This hair, in most cases, is a secondary growth cycle. It's best to plan in advance if you are waxing for an event!
YES, your legs will look and feel great after your first wax but they will "feel" even better after multiple waxes. Another little tidbit, the longer you can go without shaving, the more growth cycles of hair will be at 1/4 inch or longer and the smoother your legs will feel!
Q - Can I use a coupon?
A - Clients are allowed to use only one coupon or discount per visit. Free bikini coupons are for first visit only and only 1 allowed per client.
Q - What should I do if I have a reaction to the wax?
A - Your esthetician will provide thorough education regarding potential wax reactions. While they are rare, possible reactions may include ingrown hairs, redness or folliculitis. Rest assured, during your session with us, we will explain how to properly care for your skin following your wax treatment, ensuring your comfort and well-being.
Q - How far in advance should I book my appointment?
A - At Wax Me Too, scheduling your appointment is a breeze. You can easily book online appointments up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time and as far as 60 days in advance.
For wedding waxing tips and recommendations, we invite you to check out our informative blog post titled "A Bridal Must-Do: The Importance of Pre-Wedding Waxing from Brows to Toes." If you find yourself in need of a last-minute wax, don't fret! We've got you covered. While negative reactions to waxing are rare, we're happy to accommodate last-minute appointments, even right before your event or trip
Q - What is the cancellation policy?
A - We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, leading to cancellations. While we appreciate a 24-hour notice for cancellations, we completely understand that occasionally you are unable to provide it. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
Q - Is hard wax or soft wax better for eyebrows?
A - There's a common misconception that hard wax is gentler on the skin, but this belief is often perpetuated by hard wax companies. At our salon, we prioritize the use of soft wax, expertly applied by skilled estheticians trained in its delicate application. For sensitive areas like eyebrows, our soft wax is set at a very low temperature to ensure a gentle experience.
Q - What do I need to know before getting a bikini wax?
A - To achieve optimal results with your wax, whether it's for a bikini or Brazilian, it's recommended to have at least 2 weeks of hair growth since your last shave. We recommend 4 weeks between waxes.
Q - How long will my wax last?
A - While all bodies are different, you can anticipate the sensation of silky-smooth skin for several weeks following your waxing session. Experience the confidence of hair-free skin, knowing that regrowth tends to be finer over time.
Q - What is the difference between a Bikini, Deep Bikini, and Brazilian wax?
A - The main difference between these three waxes are the amount of hair removed.
The Brazilian wax- our 1 most requested service - Complete hair removal in the pubic region from the front to the back. Includes the bum crack as well
The Deep Bikini Wax : Not quite a brazilian, but more than a bikini. Hair is left in an oblong patch from top to bottom, coming into the labia area about a fingers width. Includes the bum. A good option for those wearing a thong bikini!
The Bikini Wax : A little more modest type of hair removal for those who just want to make sure no hair peeps out of the bikini line
Q - What kind of wax do you use?
A - Since 2007 we have used and continue to use a soft and gentle honey wax.
